I GOT FULBRIGHT!!!
So this past weekend, I received a happy letter in the mail from the Institute of International Education, who happily oversees the Fulbright Program. And even more happily, I was notified that I am officially to be a scholar in Japan this coming year. Starting in late August (or so) I will be whisked off to Japan to do research primarily on sustainable architecture. Pretty neat opportunity, and I am extremely lucky to have gotten so far. Nine others will accompany me and we will all likely have some kind of orientation in Tokyo. Cool. Anyway, I will keep the updates coming as I get them.
